Dr. Ouldridge obtained his PhD at the University of Oxford, under the supervision of Ard Louis and Jonatha Doye. During this period he was inspired by the exciting field of DNA nanotechnology, and developed the oxDNA molecular model to describe nanotechnological systems. Subsequently, while visiting the ten Wolde group, Dr Ouldridge worked on the fundamental principles of information processing in natural molecular systems. Now he leads a group at Imperial College London that seeks to combine both areas of research; using fundamental theory to engineer synthetic, DNA-based biomimetic information-processing systems.
